Guidance for the selected page, rendered from the in-app markdown help file.

This page signs you in to tools for admins, content authors, content reviewers, invigilators, and markers. Candidate access does not use this page — candidates enter an access code on the front page instead.

What you see on this page

  • Email — the email address tied to your user account.
  • Password — your account password.
  • Forgot password? — requests a single-use reset link by email.
  • Sign in — submits the form.
  • Sign in with Google — shown only when this installation has Google sign-in set up. Signs you in through your Google account instead of a password.

User credentials are issued separately by an administrator. There is no self-service sign-up.

How to sign in

  1. Enter the email address your account was set up with.
  2. Enter your password.
  3. Select Sign in.

When your details are correct, you go to the area that matches your role. If you have more than one role, you land on the front page so you can pick.

Signing in with Google

When the Sign in with Google button is shown, you can use it instead of typing a password.

  1. Select Sign in with Google.
  2. Choose the Google account whose email address matches your user account here.
  3. You will be returned and signed in to the area that matches your role.

Google sign-in works only for an existing user account. It does not create one. Your Google email address must match the email an administrator set your account up with. The first successful Google sign-in links the two accounts, and the link survives after that even if your Google email later changes. Your password keeps working alongside it.

If sign-in fails

  • "Email or password not recognised." The email and password you entered do not match an account, or your account has been disabled. The message does not tell you which. Check both the email and the password. If you are sure they are right, ask an administrator to check your access.
  • "Too many sign-in attempts. Wait a moment and try again." Repeated failed sign-ins are blocked for a short time. Wait a moment, then try again.
  • "Google sign-in did not complete." The round trip to Google was interrupted or cancelled, so you are not signed in. Try again, or use your email and password instead.
  • "We could not sign you in with that Google account." The Google account you chose does not match an active user account here. Check you picked the right Google account. If you are sure, ask an administrator to confirm the email address on your user account.

Notes

  • Your password is never shown back to you and is not displayed in any audit log.
  • If you forget your password, use Forgot password?. If you cannot access the email address on the account, ask your administrator for help.
  • A successful sign-in starts a new session and ends any previous one on this browser.
  • User sessions expire after 60 minutes without an authenticated request. When this happens, the sign-in page explains that the session expired and asks you to sign in again.
  • Always sign out (using the Sign out control on any signed-in page) when you finish, especially on a shared device.
  • If you reached this page by accident as a candidate, return to the front page and use the Start or resume assessment card instead.
